Mitsubishi air source heat pump in a 1983 - 2002 property
David
It all started with buying a fully electric car followed by solar PV and a domestic storage battery. My wife and I are very keen to reduce our carbon footprint and stop burning stuff. There is a lot to understand which is not helped by some sections of the general media repeating misleading information about renewable energy. I believe that there is no substitute for speaking directly to owners who have already tried out renewable technology. We are very happy to share our knowledge and experience.

Living with a heat pump
Our ASHP set cost £15k in total before deduction of the grant. Ohm were very good indeed and the whole system is working very well. The Nest heating system is controlled by the Nest app but there is no app to control the heat pump itself. There are plenty of geeky adjustments that can be made to the ASHP settings to maximise efficiency but probably too complicated for the average consumer to fiddle with. It can take a couple of months to optimise everything but once done, the entire system is best left alone.
