Acond air source heat pump in a pre 1920 property

David

We were renovating our home and thought it was a good opportunity to move to a heat pump at this point to reduce our emissions. In opening our Edwardian semi we thought this might help people with similar older homes gain confidence that heat pumps work well in these kinds of properties.

Installing the system

The installation was part of a large renovation project including full replumbing. We added breathable internal wall insulation (mainly wood fibre) and vacuum glazed the windows. We also have solar panels, a home battery and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery for some rooms.

Living with a heat pump

The heat pump has worked fine using its automatic settings and the house heats up faster than expected. It may be over-sized but has a good range of 3-16kW.
