Aira air source heat pump in a 1920 - 1944 property

David

I am retired and as a pensioner interested in both keeping a good level of heating and in reducing costs. As a secondary motive, the use of gas boilers will eventually be eliminated, I'm sure, so I may as well prepare the house for that date.

Installing the system

Installation took four days, with two follow up visits of half day each. The installation was pretty straightforward with both indoor unit and buffer tank in the garage replacing the gas boiler and the outdoor unit immediately outside the garage.,

Living with a heat pump

The different style of heating the house required some adjustment on our part, with a constant temperature being maintained with lower temperature radiators, rather than heating and cooling at different times of the day. The result is good, with definite savings over the gas boiler, taking into consideration my use of solar panels, batteries and an Octopus time of day tariff introduced by Aira.
