Aira air source heat pump in a 1983 - 2002 property

Colin

My wife and I are retired, we decided on the heat pump as we already have solar panels, battery back up and an electric vehicle. When we were trying to decide if it was a good idea a friend took us to see someone he knew who was running a heat pump, to see a working system and talk to the owners was hugely beneficial for us to make our decision.

Installing the system

We have a somewhat unique set up, there was no suitable area to house a hot water tank in the property but we really wanted a heat pump, the solution was to house the tank in an insulated shed outside of the property. This has so far proved to work well. Housing the tank outside also made for a much easier installation as the fitters were not having to work around existing pipe work and little work to do indoors.

Living with a heat pump

So far the pump has been good, it takes a little while to get used to just letting it control itself, our house has never been warmer.
