Kensa ground source heat pump in a post 2003 property

Michael

I have worked in renewable energy, leading businesses and developing commercial projects for 15 years, though I am not a engineer, but have a high level of renewable energy knowledge, and in addition to install my own GSHP I recently supervised the installation of an ASHP on a 1930 bungalow with a 1960 and 2001 extension which has an electric Aga with raised numerous challenges to get a successful installation, and assisting on new build house with an ASHP after purchase where the installation was extremely poor to get it installed and working properly.

Installing the system

The GSHP with pond loops was installed on a barn conversion in 2022 which was built to approximately Passiv house standards and while it is much more complex installation than the LPG gas or oil boiler alternative the benefits are significant. The Barn also has MHRV, PV & Battery.

Living with a heat pump

The house runs at at least 21 degrees 24 hours a day throughout the year and at minimum cost with the pond loops giving a heating COP of over 5 most of the year.
