About me
I’ve always been interested in decarbonising and I work as a building scientist within my own business. A heat pump was therefore a logical choice and I knew it would work for us. Now I’d like to show others how it can be done.

Installing the system

Prior to the install I draught-stripped the house and got under the ground floor to insulate it between the joists. We also had solar PV (and a house battery) installed.

Living with a heat pump

Life with a heat pump has been pretty easy, cosy and cheap. We have smart meters and we are on a smart tariff suitable for either EV or heat pump, depending on the time of year. Costs of heating and hot water are less than half of what they were with a gas boiler.
