Installing the system
Property
A hybrid house. The original 2 up/2 down built in 1911, an extension in the 1970s and a further extension with underfloor heating in the early 2020s.
Cavity wall insulation where possible, loft insulation a minimum of 300mm. In addition there are solar panels, an EV charger and a storage battery.
Installed in May 2025.
Had already installed an unvented hot water tank several years ago so not too much overall disruption. Some floorboards lifted to install new pipes and power cables from a new fuse box to the heat pump (HP). Overall the installation took 7 days as there were two follow up visits to sort out the electrical connections to the underfloor heating.

Living with a heat pump
Hot water working as expected, utility bills fallen by 16% over three summer months. No winter heating feedback yet. Very little noise from the HP.
