We've had a heat pump since 2019 - it's noy noisy, it keeps us warm, and our bills are not bigger (largely because we time when the heat pump is on and off to avoid peak electricity prices). we've done some insulation, but not over the top. Since we fitted our heat pump there are higher temperature models on the market which we probably would have opted for.
