About me
We are a young family with one child and another on the way. We are opening our home to visitors because we constantly meet people who don't think a heat pump is for them - we didn't either, but it's so much easier than you think !

Installing the system

House
Immediately after buying our Victorian terrace the ageing gas boiler gave out. At first we didn't think that our house would be suitable for a heat pump, but booked a free survery on a whim. To our surprise (and delight) the house came in within specification, without any energy efficeincy improvements required. The new water tank even fit perfectly where the old gas boiler was housed. We've got double glazed windows but otherwise live in a standard 3-bed terrace.

Installation
The installation itself took only 3 days and was stress free; the team from Octopus were abolsute professionals and a pleasure to deal with. The only complications we had were some minor prep work required of us before the install (putting in some boarding in the garden and a plinth heater) but this was easy enough.

Costs
The best thing is that the total upfront costs were less than a high-spec gas boiler would have cost us, making the whole project a complete no-brainer.

If you've got a terrace house and are sitting on the fence about a heat pump - then have a punt!

Living with a heat pump

Honestly, for hot water we don't even think about it, it just works. For heating we've only used it a few times back in April (it worked great) but we probably need a full winter before commenting further. Finally, the Daikin app is great.
