Daikin air source heat pump in a 1965 - 1982 property

Colin

I am a retired IT Consultant and live with my wife Mary, we have three grandchildren and do as much as we possibly can to ensure we leave the world a better place for them. Installing a Heat Pump allowed us to go fully electric (using our own solar energy) and stop burning gas.

Installing the system

We had to update most of our radiators to ensure there was sufficient heat output at the lower water temperatures. The installation took a week, the team were great and made sure that everything was done correctly and working.

Living with a heat pump

The Heat Pump has been great, over the winter we aim for 18/19 degrees throughout the house 24/7 and heat the hot water tank overnight. The fan in the Heat Pump is less noisy than running a cooling fan in the summer and the sound hasn't bothered us in the slightest. Our Heat Pump is extremely cheap to run as we store energy at night (when it is cheap) in our batteries and most days that is sufficient energy to run the Heat Pump. We also generate and export our solar energy which covers all our home energy use (we are fully electric).
