Installing the system

The house has had Solar Panels for 13 years, battery for 1 year, extra solar panels for 6 months. The air source heat pump (ASHP) for 3 years. We have had 2 electric cars with our own charger for 5 years. The gas boiler was removed three years ago.
Octopus installed the heat pump as a package with a new 250l hot water cylinder and a Daikin 11 kwh EDLA11D3V3 mono block air to water heat pump. 4 radiators needed replacing including 2 bath towel rails. The installation took one working week and in the last 3 years have had 2 services and two visits to do adjustments. During the installation we were without hot water one day.

Living with a heat pump

The operation of the heating is set up to achieve minimal tweaking throughout the year. The heat pump operates all the time on a weather dependant regime. The thermostat outside on the north wall and the main thermostat in the house regulate the downstairs underfloor and upstairs radiator central heating water temperature and flow.
The house does not cool down very much and is always comfortable. The week schedule function on the Daikin app that controls the heat pump lowering the house temperature demand in the night or when we are away.
