About me
Hi. I’m Mark owner of Plumbing and Renewables Ltd. We do supply and install heat pumps but also use the technology for our own home. Practise what you preach approach. I have listed our own home on this site to share and demonstrate the use of an ASHP in a very old property.

Installing the system
Main House ground floor and Out Building were renovated seperately and prior to the ASHP installation. Both buildings have UFH networks on ground floor. The remainder of the house has a radiator network and varied degrees of insulation from nil (original lathe and plaster) to PIR 75mm.

Living with a heat pump
The ASHP has met our expectations. The house is over 180 years old and in an exposed coastal location. We knew a lot would be asked of the Heat Pump, especially in winter! Utilising off peak electricity tariffs has offered us sensible running costs. The house is heated to 19 degrees C 24/7 12 months of the year. Recently 2x 8.4kW batteries were installed to further reduce electricity running costs.
