Global Energy Systems air source heat pump in a pre 1920 property

Chris

We're concerned about climate change, and keen to do what we could to reduce our carbon footprint. By far the biggest impact was changing our oil boiler for a heat pump. Having done a lot of research and been through the process ourselves, we're keen to share our knowledge to encourage more people to make the switch.

Installing the system

17kW Air-Source Heat Pump from Global Energy Systems operating as a direct replacement for our oil fired boiler. We insulated as much as possible beforehand, and had to make relatively few changes aside from the new hot water cylinder.

Living with a heat pump

After a few teething problems (mostly getting the glycol to mix properly with the water in our radiators!) it's been largely trouble free. Learning how to best run it to minimise bills has been a learning process (helped by the Cosy Octopus tariff!) but it has always been capable of keeping our house warm.
