I am motivated to do my bit to reduce the impact of climate change and I want to be a part of the green energy revolution. I am an engineer and spent a lot of time learning about heat pumps before installing mine. I would love to share my knowledge and experience with others.

Installing the system

My pipes to the radiators is 10mm microbore and many installers told me that a heat pump would not work without replacing them. The installation did not need to change any pipe work and it is very efficient.

I changed six radiators as part of the installation (these are VAT free if changed at the same time). I then used a number of the changed radiators in other parts of the house.

The installation was completed in 5 days.

Living with a heat pump

I can honestly say the heat pump has greatly exceeded my expectations. The house has never been so comfortable.
The energy savings and cost of running the system are excellent.

I have an air source heat pump (Vaillant 7Kw) supplying heat to the house via radiators.

I have installed a sophisticated monitoring system from Open Energy monitor and this allows me to view the details of the systems performance.
