Grant air source heat pump in a 1965 - 1982 property

Phillip

Keen to decarbonise the world and to demonstrate that being low carbon saves money as well as saving the planet. People can do more. It is easy, so there is no reason why they should not be helping themselves to save the planet. We are offering to show that-there is no mystery - its easy and within everyone's reach to do so..

Cost of energy bills per year: ZERO cost (as is running the car)

Installing the system

Straightforward. Needs space for the pipework, buffer tanks and new hot water tank.
Kept the old radiators as a trial - one new modern one in the central hallway. That one works better (as would the system as whole if we changed the 1970's rads but we are happy as it is without h the costs and disruption)

Living with a heat pump

Solar on  both east / west facing roof supports the running of a Grant Aerona 10kw ASHP. Water tank was changed during installation but most of the existing gas fed radiators were retained.
Home is carbon neutral and energy bills are met by receipt of money from solar energy fed to grid.
