Air source heat pump

Installing the system
We live in a conservation area, which meant we would have needed planning permission for a heat pump to be located on the exterior of the house. One way round this problem was to have it positioned under the house.
Prior to installation, we upgraded the interior insulation of the loft and replaced our windows for higher spec double glazing.
The installation of the ASHP took around two weeks. The team were excellent and caused minimal disruption to us.

Living with a heat pump
Air source heat pump. Heat loss previously reduced by installing new doors and windows and additional insulation.
Having lived with the heat pump for a year, we can say that we are very pleased with it's performance. The cost is comparable, if not slightly less than a gas boiler. If electric tariffs were cheaper than gas, it would make even more of a difference. Annual usage for the first year was 2670.8 kWh.
