Living with a heat pump
We wanted to make this very ordinary former council house as efficient as it could possibly be, in both financial and environmental terms, without major rebuilding and using off-the-shelf products rather than anything specialist or unusual. 300mm loft insulation, construction of the house cannot take cavity wall insulation, 5kw solar array facing east/west, 9kWh battery, new double-glazed windows, air-source heat pump. Gas supply was removed when the heat pump was fitted.
