NIBE air source heat pump in a 1983 - 2002 property

About me
Primarily a money saving exercise, but also an investment in the property and I expect it to increase the value of the property by at least the amount spent on it. Also helping to move to lower carbon economy is a motivation, but not if it was at a financial penalty - and it wasn't, but you do need some capital to start.

Air source heat pump

Installed by Xpert Energy

EPC rating: B

Cost of energy bills per year: £1,200

Installing the system

Prior to installation we had 11-solar panels + 15kw of batteries installed.
The heat pump was installed in April-24 and took 1-guy about 8-ays. Most of the work was in splitting the single heating circuit into two so the existing radiators could cope with the lower water tempaerature and existing radiator would not need replacing (which would have made the capital cost too high).

Living with a heat pump

Nibe 2040-12 air sourced Heat pump 12kw.
Without solar panels/batteries and importantly Octopus Energy off-peak tariff the annual running costs would be very similar to previous gas central heating. Got the £7,500 grant towards to £12,500 costs.
With the lower electricity prices of Octopus + solar panels/batteries annual running costs are 50% of previous (including loval run-about EV car charging).
Whole system payback about 7 to 8-years
Big difference is we leave the system on 24/7 with a target temperature of 22C and its keeping the mass of the house at a constant temperature that is the key to economic running
