Daikin air source heat pump in a 1965 - 1982 property

Roger

I am motivated about doing something about climate change and this was the first step. Solar panels followed. I was able to take advantage of a generous government grant such that the cost was little more than that for a gas boiler. Energy bills now very low with solar panels

Installing the system

6 radiators were replaced as they run at lower temperatures but visually look the same as you barely notice the additional thickness - in hindsight need only have replaced 3. Very well insulated hot water tank installed plus buffer tank.  The system was pressurised so all tanks in loft removed - much better system.  Installation took around 4 days.  Installer very efficient. Keep thermostat at 20 degrees in cooler months.  No problems in heating.  Use eco setting of 45 degrees for hot water.  Works very well.  Got rid of old gas boiler and gas altogether by changing the gas hob to an induction hob.

Living with a heat pump

Yes it has worked as expected.  Do have a backup heater but have rarely used it.  As the system runs at low temperatures, once a week it is boosted to 60 degrees as defence against legionella but this does not take much additional electricity. In fact the day after the boost, no hot water heating is required as the tank is so well insulated The system averages at least 3 times the efficiency of a gas boiler albeit not quite as efficient in winter months.  Lower hot water temperature more than adequate.

Visiting my heat pump: Email best but will pick up messages on phone. Can answer questions that way about heat pump installation or times of visits

Message Roger if you want to ask them something about their heat pump or the process of getting one installed. Click request a visit above if you want to arrange a visit.

Accessing the venue

I have a severely disabled wife which means I have limited space to accommodate many people as seating limited indoors albeit most of visit they would be on their feet. Probably wouldn't want more than 4 at a time
