About me
We were seeking a greener solution to heating our home. Fortunately grants were available at the time from the Scottish Government.

Installing the system
The heat pump was installed when we were not living in the house. As part of the renovation all the insulation was improved ( lathe and plaster replaced , insulation under wooden floors) and additional or larger radiators fitted in some places. Two ground floor rooms have underfloor heating. It was done during covid which added other problems. We have a bore hole and the noise was deafening to the entire neighbourhood for 3 days but they have forgiven us now.
Living with a heat pump
We have learned to crank it up and forget it. We are quite warm , though we light the stove in the evenings in the winter when we are sitting down. We control the thermostat remotely when we go on holdiay. In summer we turn the thermostat right down and forget it. There are always lashings of hot water an no particular noise from the heat pump. Our HP is under warrantly and any problmes we have had have been sorted out.
As part of our energy management we also also have batteries, solar panels and use an 'agile' electircity tarriff.
