Installing the system
Aira (the installers I highly recommend) took care of everything. The design was a two way process with full communication with a named designer. The installation took five days. The changes required vary from site to site, but in our house there was no need for anything radical. Most radiators were changed and two were added. There was no heating or hot water during these five days but we have an electric shower in the guest room en-suite and we use a dishwasher. We also use a log burner in the living room. Plus the weather was relatively warm. The radiators work meant some shifting of furniture but the overall disruption was quite bearable.
The property is a 1950s bungalow with a 200q dormer loft conversion. The construction is cavity wall (insulated) with suspended floors (insulated). Upstairs has poor insulation (2000 Building Regulations were pretty lax in this respect) Central heating pipes are mostly 15mm with 10mm in the loft extension most radiators were changed and the two that weren’t have been supplemented by large vertical (very pretty) ones. The EPC rating of the house is C.

Living with a heat pump
The heat pump is working really well. The temperatures (outside!) were dropping to near freezing in the last couple of days. Inside the temperature is stable and bang on the 20degC we set on the thermostat.
