Daikin air source heat pump in a post 2003 property

chris

Hello, I brought a new build in a so called eco-estate in Bicester, being a first time home buyer I was unaware of some of the things that were not so eco, one of them being the district heat network that supplies the heating and hot water via a central gas fired power plant... the carbon footprint is rather large and moving to the heat pump solution address this directly as well as eliminating the extra standing charge of the gas system.

Joined the network in 2024

Installing the system

This installation was to help move away from the gas-based district heat network that the estate currently runs on and prove that it can be done. The homes are extremely well insulated, and it was a relatively straightforward change. However, being the first, there are details to work through, as always, and removing the heat exchanger from the district heat network was and still is a little bit of a steeping stone and balancing act.

Living with a heat pump

It has taken a bit to tweak it to operate comfortably, but we are getting there, and it seems to be going great.
