About me
We are a retired couple, who are interested in reducing our energy consumption. The choice of a heat pump seemed the logical step, based on all the other improvements we had made, and because our aging gas boiler needed replacing. We are happy to share our experience with people who are interested in going down the same route

Installing the system

Over the years we have added extra insulation to improve overall comfort, including external insulation. We have also installed under-floor heating on ground floor. More recently we have installed solar panels and batteries.
The installation went very smoothly, and took approx 7 days. I had already increased the size of several radiators, as suggested by the Heat Loss survey

Living with a heat pump

Living with a heat pump requires a change of mindset. We have learned not to expect to switch it on/off when required, as with gas...it is best to let it run long, at a low temp. So far, we have felt very comfortable with the resultant temperature, the heat pump has provided what we need
