We decided on a ASHP because it is more friendly to the environment. We recently had solar panels installed to complement the ASHP. We are now ready for the 22nd Century.

Installing the system

We live in a bungalow. The installation team were with us for 4 days. They were very professional and courteous at all times. They had to provide 5 new radiators to ensure the rooms kept to the right temperatures without using excessive energy. Also needed a hot water tank as we previously had a gas combi boiler. They removed the gas boiler and capped off the gas into the property in the meter cupboard, having removed the meter. Thus saving the daily standing charge about £102 per annum.

Living with a heat pump

The installation took place in November, so for the one night that we were without heating, we were provided with electric space heaters. An allowance was made on our account for the extra power used. We quickly settled down to knowing our new system. After a few adjustments by me to the timers and required temperatures, we have found our bungalow to be very cosy , both during the day( we are retired) and also the evening.
