I previously worked as a Gas / Heating Engineer for over a decade, installing the most advanced boiler brands and controls on the market. Several years ago I hung up my engineer hat and made the switch to working for a leading Heat Pump manufacturer. I sit on various industry heat pump working groups including MCS. I am a great believer in practicing what I preach and sharing knowledge / demonstrating best practice, so a heat pump was the only sensible option for me.

Installing the system

Decided to renew the heating system as the existing system was from the late 80's/early 90s, old hot water cylinder and warn out radiators. Removed cylinder from bathroom to create space for renovation and located new cylinder in the garage/utility. The property has some cavity wall insulation from the early 2000s and some loft insulation. No other insulation has been improved.

Living with a heat pump

Superb! A comfortable constant temperature. Efficiency of 620% in October and 450% in November. Running cheaper and much more comfortable than the condensing Gas boiler we had in before.
