Daikin air source heat pump in a 1965 - 1982 property

About me
Our boiler was 13 years old. I wanted to stop burning stuff, so for green reasons as well as getting my heating updated I went for a heat pump.

Visiting my heat pump

Installing the system

I had read up and watched several videos about heat pumps so had an idea what to expect. Over the years I have added lots of insulation myself and added lots of radiators and some simple underfloor heating. I used the radiator return water to heat the floors which is not conventional and this scared some installers. In preparation for the installation I cleared all the areas for easy access. I had more than one quote and they varied by £3000. Some were sceptical about whether my existing system would be suitable but I found an installer who was not worried.  The system is installed and working , I have the house a bit warmer than I used to and the costs are around the same for this winter in the short period it has been operational.

Living with a heat pump

It took a few days to work out our schedule that worked for us. We used Octopus Agile but I did not like the roller-coaster price ride, I switched to Cosy and optimised the settings for comfort and cost rather than efficiency.
