I am a mum, a Christian, an energy researcher, and I suffer more than normal from the cold. For all of those reasons I wanted to have a heat pump! Please do feel free to come and look round if you would like to see or feel how it is in the house.

Installing the system

We did not put any extra insulation in but the installer put in 10 new radiators. He said that he would have put those in even if we were just getting a new boiler as they were 40 years old and full of rubbish.
An electrician came first for about half a day to sort out the electrical side of things.
The heat pump installation took about 5 days. It involved taking up some floorboards in one room and the upstairs landing for about 2 days (put back every evening). The kids enjoyed watching it.

Living with a heat pump

It is lovely and warm. This is more because of how we run it (constantly, compared to how we used to use our boiler for just a few hours a day) than it being a heat pump.
It is nice being able to control it from my phone as you can lie in bed and put the hot water on to warm up before you have a shower.
