About me
I am concerned about the environment and my house's CO2 footprint. Faced with getting a new boiler soon anyway so, and with the £7,500 BUS grant available, an ASHP made perfect financial sense too. Installing the system

We were required to upgrade most radiators (to provide additional heat output at lower temperatures). So we upgraded all of them to the same type, other than two bathroom towel radiators.  The installation team was terrific, I can't fault them.

I plan to top-up insulation in the loft by another 100-170mm, which will only help further.

Living with a heat pump

It produces a nice, even, heat throughout the house.  Stealthy, as the radiators are barely warm to the touch and the system is quieter than the old gas boiler !  It's way more comfortable than before, as the heating is on for longer, the temperature does not yo-yo up and down, and bills already seem lower, but it is early days.  Outside noise is very low (less than the exhause noise of the old gas boiler) and with a bedroom above the fan unit and no noise can be heard from inside at all.
