Daikin air source heat pump in a 1945 - 1964 property

Max

Hi, I am Max, I work in sustainability and I have decided with my wife to transform our house in an eco-home as much as possible. A heat pump with PV solar panels was the obvious choice for us! Happy to present our install to anyone interested!

Installing the system

Install by Octopus Energy over 5 days and this is was great.
Internal changes: a couple of radiators had to be upgraded and a new water tank installed in the loft.

Living with a heat pump

We've recently retrofitted our 1960s home and installed a Daikin 7kW heat pump to supply all heat via radiators, plus domestic hot water. It is controlled by a Daikin controller.

We carried out quite an extensive retrofit with highly efficient double glazing, underfloor ground floor insulation, improving airtightness, topping up loft insulation, etc.

MVHR is next!

Having a heat pump is exactly the same as having the previous gas boiler (i.e. this is seamless!). But with more controls as I have now a digital thermostat that I can control by phone if I want to.

Accessing the venue

Internal hardware (hot water cylinder/controls) are currently in the loft, so they are not accessible for people in wheelchair and people would need to be comfortable climbing up a loft ladder. On street parking available
