Daikin air source heat pump in a post 2003 property

Craig

We decided to install a heat pump to reduce our CO2 emissions and make the most of our solar and battery storage. I would like to share my experience of how a heat pump works in the real world and help people make their own informed choice.

Installing the system

The property was built in 2023 so it was already well insulated. The installation was pretty straightforward as the hot water/buffer tanks we're fitted into the existing cupboard that had the original hot water tank in it. Some radiators had to upgraded to larger ones. The installation took 4 days to complete.

Living with a heat pump

Initially there is a few things to lean (as with anything new). However once you get it set to your own preferences then you can just leave it do it's thing. Our system runs 24/7 and the house is always at a nice comfortable temperature. We find it much better than our gas boiler as it used to get too hot, then too cold (especially overnight).
