Installing the system

Our home was drafty and we had an old gas boiler. We replaced many windows to improve insulation. Then we tried to figure out a heat pump, but we were fussy about were to place it, and the companies we consulted were not great. Finally we accepted that the outside unit had to go in our rear garden, and we found a great company (Econic), and they did a fine job.

Living with a heat pump

We are happy that we are no longer consuming fossil fuels, and the house is much more pleasant. Before, it alternated between being cold and hot. Now it's super steady. The only (mild) regret is that the 12 kW outside unit is large relative to our tiny rear garden. From what I can tell we only use 2 kW, so perhaps we could have gone for a smaller unit?
