Octopus Cosy6 air source heat pump in a post 2003 property

Ricky

About me
Jane is a violin teacher - teaching studio round the side - and I'm a retired vicar. We want to stop using fossil fuels and cut our carbon footprint as much as possible. Heat Pumps have to be the future way we heat our homes using entirely renewal energy.

Visiting my heat pump
We're very happy to explain and demonstrate how our heat pump works. Phone or email to set up a visit.

Air source heat pump

EPC rating: Good I think - it's new modern house.

Cost of energy bills per year: £2000 - the violin teaching cabin uses electric heaters all the time.

Installing the system

We've had solar panels for 6 years, plus we have an EV and home charger. The best thing though is the cheaper overnight tariff from Octopus which makes running the EV very cheap and other day time cheaper tariffs.
The installation of our Cosy6 too a week, with four engineers working pretty hard throughout. They managed to change the boilers is such a way we weren't without heat in the house for more than one day. So the radiators were changed and then ran off the old gas boiler while other pipework was installed.
Since it's been working we are warm and comfortable all round the house. We did have one 'down day' when the filter needed cleaning - which was done within 24 hours.

Living with a heat pump

It's a different kind of heat round the house - if the pod is to be believed we are comfortable with 18-19 degrees - and the water is 50 and quite hot enough!
