I am doing this because I see too much 'belief' based nonsense on the internet about heat pumps that they 'don't work' which is not only unhelpful its destructive.

Installing the system

I have a 70 s/m home. with 8 total radiators, 5 of which were changed during the installation. I have a Daikin Altherma monobloc 4kw edla04e2v3 installed. Octopus Energy did the install, it took just under a week in April 2024. the install after the grant was £1000 it was cheaper to get a heatpump installed than to replace the aging Glowworm gas boiler with a another gas boiler. I pay around £41 per month worse case to run the heatpump and less in the milder months note we do have battery storage and an EV, talk to me about why this important.

Living with a heat pump

Consistent gentle heating at low temperature flow is more pleasant to live with than on/off heat blasting from radiators with gas boiler, its cheaper to run* and much better for the environment, its set and forget. for me though I like tweaking for better efficiency so if you get a kick out of the numbers and playing that game then this is ideal for you too.
