Midea air source heat pump in a 1945 - 1964 property

Richard

We have a very sustainable approach to life and the design for our renovation reflected this. We followed the principles of Passivhaus to create a very comfortable home. We started with a 'fabric first' approach. Added lots of insulation and made the property air-tight as part of a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery design. The ASHP was an obvious heating and hot water choice

Cost of energy bills per year: £500 Heating and Hot water

Installing the system

Our installation was carried out by Good Energy which was and continues to be a very positive experience. Ours was a self renovation and required a collaborative partnership from design stage through to installation

Living with a heat pump

We took a fabric first approach to our renovation by fitting a lot of insulation to the external walls and roofs. We have just worked with Good Energy to review our first full years energy consumption and have been pleasantly surprised at how low our heating and hot water costs have been reduced
