Installing the system

System was installed in 2020 immediately after the first lockdown ended. It took 2 weeks from start of installation to commissioning. The process was fairly straight forward with no major issues. We had already installed Solar Thermal in 2009 and Solar Panels in 2012. Since installing the Heat Pump we have also installed a Tesla Powerwall Battery to reduce solar energy exported and take advantage of cheap energy tariffs.

Living with a heat pump

Learning to live with a Heat Pump takes time. It is not a direct replacement for gas or oil boiler. It has to be set up for the property it is serving. However, it has been significantly more cost effective than our old oil boiler was and we replaced none of our radiators or our micro-bore pipe work.
