Daikin air source heat pump in a post 2003 property

Christopher

I had been looking at heat pumps for a while, but didn’t know anyone who had one to ask questions. I took the plunge when my gas boiler started to fail and would’ve needed replacing anyway. With the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant of £7500, it was cheaper to install the heat pump than replace the gas boiler.

Installing the system

We already had an airing cupboard with a hot water tank, so we had the space for the new tank already. Our heat pump was wall-mounted after the driveway slope and block paving would’ve meant a less pleasing look if mounted on the ground. The installation took 5 days (Monday to Friday).

Living with a heat pump

The house being a constant temperature has been welcomed by my wife who works from home during the day (no more hot water bottles). Once it achieves that stable temperature, it seems very efficient.
