Mitsubishi air source heat pump in a 1945 - 1964 property

Gina

About me
Kevin and Gina welcome visitors to see our air source heat pump and hot water cylinder as we had the opportunity to see a system in use before we committed to the purchase and installation. Our ASHP is the latest energy saving development we have undertaken, having already installed solar panels, battery and EV car changer.

Visiting my heat pump
Although we do have planned events, we are happy to be contacted by email to arrange a visit to our home to see our air source heat pump at a time to suit you. Whilst we plan events for one hour (which is what the website creates!), you should expect your visit to last 90-120 minutes, depending on the number of questions you have. We have capped bookings at 2 people, but if your party is bigger than this, go ahead and book and just drop me an email to say how many people will be coming. We also have solar panels and a battery if you are interested in seeing these too.

Installing the system

We had to increase the size of about half of our radiators to give the required output for the low flow temperature (45 degree system). The hot water tank is installed in our garage and the ASHP is on the opposite side of the house, so the installers lay the pipe work across the first floor, as we didn't want the pipework installed on the outside of the house. They were very accommodating to our needs.

Living with a heat pump

This is our first winter with the ASHP and the weather has been quite cold. The house has been warm despite this. We had researched using the ASHP and so knew that it is important to try and keep the house at a fairly constant temperature. It is difficult at this stage to determine the cost comparison as last winter was mild. Hot water has been plentiful (we previously had a combo boiler so were used to on demand hot water).
