Daikin air source heat pump in a pre 1920 property

Our gas central heating was so expensive to run. We ran it for a couple of hours in the morning and evening, and the house was always cold in between. Now we have our heat pump, the house is a lovely warm temperature all the time. And it is definitely no more expensive than gas. On warmer days it works out a lot cheaper. If I could go back in time and had the opportunity to speak with someone who already had a heat pump installed, I would have made the decision to go ahead with the purchase a lot sooner.

Installing the system

I live in a 3 bedroom older house. The loft needed insulating before work began. During insulation of the pump, 5 of our radiators were replaced free of charge under the BUS scheme. Our insulation team knew exactly what they were doing, they left the house tidy before leaving each day, and I was very impressed with their work. The work was completed in 5 days.

Living with a heat pump

We couldn’t be happier with our heat pump. The house is lovely and warm. We are with Octopus and their Cosy tariff supplies periods of very cheap electricity which works well with the heat pump.
