Ideal air source heat pump in a pre 1920 property

Laurence

I am a sustainability manager and very focused on climate. Therefore I knew that when our old boiler died we would be going heat pump and therefore we finally made the move. I also have solar panels so happy to share any thoughts on that as wel;

Installing the system

We had already been upgrading the house bit by bit over the last year (new windows etc) so when the heat pump came to be installed the house was in fairly good state in terms of insulation, although most of the walls were brick wall (no cavity) and did not have additional insulation. For our heat pump installation we ended up changing 7 radiators which were all ancient and that was the only additional upgrades needed.

Living with a heat pump

Brilliant! House is warm 24/7 which is a massive change and hot water is quicker than with gas boiler. We are now free from gas so saving daily standing charge
