About me
We wanted to move away from gas and benefit from any solar power we generate to reduce energy costs. We are trying to make our house fit for next 20 years with lower heating costs.

Installing the system

Over about 5 years we insulated our roof, cavity and under suspended floors on ground floor in preparation for a heat pump. We have double glazing throughout and heat loss calculations showed that only a 5kw ashp was needed.

Living with a heat pump

We find that our utilities bills are approx 80-90% of previous where we had gas heating and hob. Only have gas for hob currently but planning to get rid of gas soon.
