Installing the system
Three bed semi built in 2019.
Octopus ASHP and DHW cylinder to replace LPG combi boiler. 10mm microbore to all radiators. New hot water cylinder and pipework placed in the existing airing cupboard. Two radiators upgraded from single to double panel. Octopus were very good throughout from initial contact to survey and installation. The installation team was very professional. The system was commissioned on the fourth day.

Living with a heat pump
We wanted to get away from LPG and the price quoted by Octopus made this a very easy decision.
The system is controlled by an app on our phones. It's easy to use, easy to change temperature settings, schedules etc even if not at home.
Installation took place during a very cold spell in February. The house is pleasantly warm throughout, we have all the hot water we need from a 45 minute top up at a cheap rate.
It was decided that the heat pump could only be sited in one place due to windows, air bricks etc. Apart from the heat pump itself there is additional trunking, an outside consumer unit, cabling etc. It is a retro fit after all, and we are happy with the compromises that are involved. We have no issues with noise from the system, indeed it's much quieter in the house without the gas boiler cycling on/off.
