About me
I have spent a lot of time and effort researching and trying various options to create a more sustainable and energy efficient property, infrared heating systems, solar PV and battery storage etc. My choice to move to an ASHP was driven around having an unfortunate opportunity to improve upon this from what I had learnt over the years, to date I'm very pleased with the heat pump in combination with a large solar PV installation. I'm happy to share my experience to help others make informed decisions.

Installing the system

Our installation was done as part of a full rebuild of our property post a major fire, we took the opportunity to move away from oil fired central heating and hot water to an ASHP, installing wet underfloor heating to the entire ground floor and adding radiation to a 2 attic rooms. This was part of an extensive 36wk rebuild that also saw significantly extra insulation added to the property, this was a requirement to comply with current building regs for repairs but it also provided a great means to create a thermally efficient property.

Living with a heat pump

It has been very easy to adjust, having found a good installer I feel we understood the system well and our expectations have therefore been met, bar a minor bit of adjustment to the settings for the heat curve it really has been set and forget.
