Samsung air source heat pump in a pre 1920 property

Philip

Our heat pump replaced an oil boiler and was installed under the ECO4 scheme. I was very hesitant and did a LOT of research before agreeing to go ahead with the installation. I wish I had the opportunity to talk to people beforehand, and I am keen to share the knowledge and experience I have accumulated with others who are considering a heat pump. Come and have a chat and see if a heat pump would be the right thing for you.

Installing the system

Property is a pre-1800s stone cottage with 1970s brick extension, proving that even old properties are suitable for a heat pump. We had some insulation upgrades done first, and the heat pump installation took 2-3 days.

Living with a heat pump

We love our heat pump. It is quieter than the oil boiler it replaced. It is more than capable of heating the property. The biggest change we noticed is we are no longer aware the heating is on. There are no large swings in temperature, it's just comfortable all the time such that you become totally unaware of it. Oh, and it's been a lot cheaper to run over our first winter than the oil boiler it replaced.
