Installing the system
Our house is a 1870 Victorian over 4 floors and shows that a period house of this size (240 sq.m.) can be heated efficiently with a 16kW heat pump. We have no cavity walls that could be insulated, but have all double-glazing and maximum loft insulation. Part of the installation involved replacing some existing pipes with larger ones, and one radiator was added as part of the installation, as well as a new water tank. Econic were a brilliant company, with expert and polite installers.
Living with a heat pump
We have had no problems living with the heat pump, it heats well. We also have a large home battery to take advantage of off-peak electricity rates to lower our heating costs, also installed by Econic.
