Installing the system

My heat pump was fitted by Octopus Energy in March 2025. I was very pleased with the professionalism of the team of thee who installed it. They were on site for four days. The whole installation is very neat, although the hot water cylinder is large. We had eight radiators replaced.

We  have had solar panels for over a decade. We had a battery installed by a different company (Octopus doesn’t do battery installation currently) during the same week as the heat pump was fitted. 

Living with a heat pump

These are early days, but so far it has been very comfortable and what we were expecting. The mindset for how you use a heat pump is very different to a gas boiler - a case of slow and steady background heating, running most of the day, rather than quick bursts of intense heat. There is an also learning curve to using the heat pump, but the support from Octopus has been excellent.
