I work in the construction industry. Decided to install a heatpump to be more energy efficient and to work concurrently with the solar array/battery storage. I also have an EV which charges overnight on Octopus Intelligent tarriff. My boiler broke down and decided to make the switch. Message me to arrange an event. Usually free on Weekends

Installing the system

Simple straightforward install. 5 days with commisioning on the 5th day. 4 radiators were swapped. No adjustments necessary Other than removal of airtex asbestos ceiling for the airing cupboard. This was arranged seperately prior to the install.

Living with a heat pump

Living with a Daikin heat pump, a 4.8kW solar array, and 9.5kWh(Givenergy) of battery storage on the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff is a smooth, energy-efficient experience. The heat pump provides consistent heating while solar generation covers much of the daytime energy needs. Excess solar charges the battery, which then helps power the home during the evening reducing reliance on grid electricity.

Hot water is heated overnight during the cheap-rate window (11:30 pm–5:30 am), maximizing cost savings. The system is largely automated, and with some tuning, you can almost entirely avoid peak-rate electricity—especially in the summer months. It’s a smart, low-carbon setup that works quietly in the background and keeps bills under control.
