I have had a long term interest in what used to be called "Alternative Technology" since the 1970's and now this tech is easily available. The ASHP install was the final piece in the jigsaw of our 12 year retrofit journey. Our house is open to anyone wishing to improve the energy efficiency of their house or transport.

Installing the system
After much research I opted for an ASHP in 2024 and with other plumbing work it took 10 days for the installation using a local contractor, Evergreen Renewables of Lyme Regis. Other than the normal disruption it was a stress free install. The house is now gas free.
Living with a heat pump
We have an EV tariff and use this to charge the 24 KW house batteries overnight through the winter. With the high level of insulation we have the heat pump only switches on 2 - 3 times a day to top up the house temperature mid winter.
