I'm an engineer retired out of the energy business, so was interested in the tech and keen to do the right thing for the energy transition. We've gone 100% electric with the gas to the house disconnected. Happy to help others on the journey.

Installing the system

Our install benefitted from the government grant to keep costs very reasonable overall (after some scary big quotes from some installers).  Had to prep the house with new loft insulation and taking down a lean-to roof but it was a good candidate to start with.  Our installer did a great job in heat loss calcs and radiator sizing and did a professional job with a 1 week install time.  Second winter operating now and all is well!

Living with a heat pump

Air to water heat pump unit outside, piped up the outside of the building and through the loft into the original water cylinder cupboard, where the new cylinder is fitted (just!). Larger radiators throughout but staying mostly to the original piping footprints.

Accessing the venue

Usually plenty of parking space either on the drive, in the bays immediately out front or along the street. Some SatNavs have us on the wrong side of the road - just look for the bright red garage door! Driveway is gently sloped but there are steps to get in / out / around the house.
